Profile
Derbe graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree (Hons) from the University of Buckingham, England in 1999. She then obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice from the Legal Qualifying Board, Malaysia and chambered in the chambers of Messrs. Chew, Jugah, Wan Ullok, Kuching. She was called to the bar as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak, in the state of Sarawak, on 16 November 2001.
Derbe has been in active legal practice since 2001. She chambered and practiced with Messrs. Chew, Jugah, Wan Ullok before joining Tang Advocates as a Partner in 2010.

Areas of Practice
Derbe currently heads the Corporate and Conveyancing department of Tang Advocates and covers a wide range of drafting and advisory work in these two areas, including both conventional and Islamic banking facilities.
She has also acted in several corporate matters such as share sale agreements, joint venture agreements, partner and shareholder disputes, scheme of arrangement and debt restructuring exercises, and members' and creditors' voluntary winding up.
This is complemented by her experience in general litigation, which includes admiralty and marine hull, insurance, contractual disputes, CIPAA claims (Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012), and tax appeals.
